Beautiful Subaru's

Latest

Update

Hello viewers!
Many of you have probably been wondering where are the posts?
It been nearly 2 months!

I have chosen to take a different approach with the blog, I will no longer post a single picture of a Subaru on the blog and posts will be once a week but hopefully more often on here. I will now only post:

-Viewers Subaru’s (Pictures sent in by the owner)
-Other features, I may choose to do a feature on a specific Subaru or set of cars
-My own photography work and viewers photography work with Subaru’s

I suggest if you would like more updates to follow the Facebook Page where I have been uploading pictures of Subaru’s every other day or so.

Here are some pictures that have been posted on the Facebook page in the last while:

Swagbaru #176 – Colin’s WRX

Here is Colin’s 05 WRX, these are beautiful photos and I would like to thank Justin from TwentyPSI for them.

Colin had just recently graduated High School and wanted to put some mods into his WRX so he worked over the summer and was able to get a complete custom 3′ turbo back exhaust along with a set of XXR 527 rims. In my opinion these rims are beautiful and you can never go wrong with them especially for the price. You will also notice it has an STi wing.

Swagbaru #175 – Jesse’s Slammed Forester Update

You may remember this wagon since I posted it nearly 2 months ago. Since then Jesse has been hard a work and within that time has added quite a bit to the car. It now sits on 17×8 Rota Boost’s with 3/8″ spacers on ’06 WRX struts with Tein Springs. Other additions include a GTspec roll center adjustment kit as well as Rallytech adjustable rear sway bar and endlinks.

Swagbaru #173 – Fall BRZ Shoot

Walking to class one day I saw a beautiful BRZ parked. I decided to leave a note for the owner and I wanted to set up a photoshoot. Some time later I finally found a spot and a time. I decided on Waterloo Park and when I went the parking lot was close to empty and it seemed like a perfect spot with the fall trees. After heading there with Gary (BRZ Owner) this Monday The parking lot was full. We were lucky to find a bunch of empty spaces which we could use. It was around 4:45 when we started and the sun was starting to set creating the weird lighting and shadows. At the time of shooting I thought the photos would look great but after looking at them on my computer I wasn’t happy with the lighting, shadows and many cars in the background. I decided to choose the best of the best so here they are.

Gary’s BRZ currently has BC Racing coilovers dropping the car, he has plasti-dipped his rims as well as added a Grimmspeed FT86 oil cap. Gary plans to do more to the car come Spring such as an Indivia exhaust and new rims.

Although I feel like this is some of my best work so far, I see many flaws in the pictures and I now know where to improve on them next time, I feel that I’m finally starting to progress with Automotive Photography.

Ok this post will now be posted later than I wished, last night I uploaded the photos to Flickr and posting them on here resizes them and they either get cut-off or are too small. Ontop of that the files are large and I’m having trouble uploading them to wordpress as well as Imgur so I will have to have smaller pictures. If you would like to see them larger on Flickr go here.

Swagbaru #172 – Wagon Wednesday Vol. 40 Matt’s Forester

I first met Matt in June at Stretch & Poke’s Fitted 2012. As you could imagine the Subaru population at a stanced based event is not huge. Matt along with Ben came over to see us (Myself, along with 2 other subies) when we first arrived. They told us about their site Flatbroke Status and their shared passion for Subaru’s. I was glad to see some Subie love at the event. I continued to see Matt and Ben around at other Subaru Meets such as Toronto Subaru Club’s Spring Fling. Matt and Ben have done a amazing good job of coverage of events and features on their website Flatbroke Status make sure to check out their posts with their newly updated website along with their Facebook Page.

Now for the part about the car:
At Fitted I still had my Forester and Matt was telling me about his and how he had recently dropped it. I was eager to see pictures of it and in person and got to at Spring Fling. Matt, like myself, is a lover of wagons and didn’t know what wagon to buy, thankfully Ben convinced him to go for a Subaru. Matt’s Forester is his daily driver with the intention to go as low as he can. He plans to go lower come spring and is looking for 2-3inches of ground clearance if possible. Matt’s Forester is lowered thanks to a set of DGR coilovers and gave him a 4″ drop so far from stock height. He has also recently acquired a set of Rota DPT’s in 18×9.5 +20. Matt’s Forester has been dubbed the “moving billboard” for Flatbroke Status due to all the vinyl. Matt would like to put more into the car but as I’m sure many of you know the Flatbroke life is to put all your money in your car. Although he would like to save up for a trip to Japan or start his project drift car. It is clear that Matt and the Flatbroke Status crew love the drift scene and they have had some wonderful coverage of drift events.

Further plans for the Foz include tubbing the fenders/wheel wells for more clearance. Some headers and an exhaust to give it some sound and possibly even a RWD conversion so that he can run a staggered wheel set up.

Thank you to Matt for taking these wonderful photos for me to post!

Here is a picture I took of Matt’s car in at Spring Fling

Seems odd posting a subaru shoot from H20i.  But thats when happens when you're friends with Matt Berenz.  I was able to convince him to take a few snaps of Trent's bagged Impreza Outback, Brad's Legacy GT and my own Legacy Brighton.  Unfortunately we did not have enough time at our first location to get enough shots of Trent's Impreza.  At least we got one good family photo.

I decided this was a perfect post for Wagon Wednesday, all credit to Scraped Crusaders for the post and Deathlens for the photos!

Swagbaru #171 – Wagon Wednesday Vol. 39 Aussie Love

I’m still not sure why the site receives so many from Australia they are third behind Canada and the US. Although it’s great to know that people on an international scale are looking at your site. I have already mailed plenty of stickers their way as well. Here’s a great example Brent’s 2009 Lightening Red Impreza you gotta love that red.

Swagbaru #168 – Wagon Wednesday Vol. 37 Jesse’s Forester

Here is Jesse’s dropped SF Forester. He has only had the car for 2 months and has already started to do a lot of work aesthetically and exhaust work to the car, he also shows no sign of stopping anytime soon with more plans and parts coming in for the car such as Legacy GT wheels, more exhaust work and tein springs for his WRX struts. I really love the candy red taillights on this! Jesse is no stranger to Subaru’s as this is his fourth one after having 2 Imprezas and a Legacy GT.

Here is Jesse’s car updated!

Jesse also sent me this cool drawing he did, thanks again Jesse!

Swagbaru #167 – Cruise to Hypermeet

I apologize for the late and lack of posts, I was on vacation and now I’m getting settled again back at school away from home.
If you want to follow me on the go with more updates follow @AustinF12 on instagram or #swagbaru

Here are the pictures from the cruise most of the pictures I took (the ones with the SWAGBARU logo), the others were taken by Brooke W. with the exception of a couple I will point out.

If you missed it already here are the picture from the Pre-meet for the cruise to hypermeet

Swagbaru #166 – Pre-Meet for the Hyper Meet Cruise

Here are just the photos from the meet at the Scarborough Town Centre we had before we cruised out to the 401 Westbound to Subaru Canada HQ (Mississauga). Over 60 replied on the forums with other cruises coming up to join us. I can tell you that well over 80 Subaru’s showed up just for the East End cruise. (Yes I actually counted 54 around 30mins before we left). I will make another post for the actual cruise on the 401 and the line up outside of Subaru Canada HQ. And of course the amazing Hyper Meet!

All of the photos I took have the SWAGBARU logo, other photo credit goes to Leon B.

Opposites: Brad’s LOW Subaru (Won Lowest Subaru at the meet with 2.75″ frame to ground) and Jon’s slightly lifted 2.5i

Swagbaru #165 – Wagon Wednesday Vol. 36 & Events

I apologize for the lack of posts and quality of posts lately.
This weekend in Toronto there are two massive car events Saturday is Importfest at the MTCC and Sunday more importantly is Toronto Subaru Club’s Hyper Meet, last year there was hundreds of Subies and I can guarantee there will be even more this year. If you are in Southern Ontario with a Subaru I highly suggest you go! Here are the details! See you there!

Swagbaru #160 – Wagon Wednesday Vol. 33 My New Swagbaru

You may notice I changed the theme, I was tired of the old one and was not happy after spending hours to make a banner which would not fit and not be able to find any other themes with a proper banner size. WordPress unfortunately is very limited and I wish I could move off it but I do not have the time to make and code my own site nor do I have the money to have someone else to do it. :/

On a much better note!
Here is my new swagbaru! A 2006 Impreza WRX Wagon in Steel Gray Metallic.
After searching for a 06/07 WRX Wagon for months and months I decided to look outside of Ontario and ended up at Lachute Subaru in Quebec (a 550km drive). I went originally (two saturdays ago) to check out a white 07 WRX Wagon in Alpine White. It was smoked in and they just got this gray one in which I liked more and was cheaper. I traveled back up there again this saturday to pick it up and drive it back. Big thanks to my dad for going all the way out there with me at 4:45AM. Also big thanks to Nicholas G. from Lachute Subaru for everything and the wonderful service at Lachute Subaru.
The Gray WRX also came with HIDs, Rally Armour UR mudflaps and a Viper alarm system.
The pictures are a bit yellow because of the lighting, I tried to fix the white balance and did all I could.
Also goto our Facebook page for the Heaven vs Hell teasers, these were shot the same day.
I am in love with this car!

Swagbaru #158 – Swagbaru Racecar

These pictures are from CSCS Round 3 at Mosport DDT on July 15, 2012.
I plan to make another post of the other racers as well as cars in the show and shine.
If you already follow me on instagram (@AustinF12) or go here. You would have already seen this car in action.
I first saw Brad’s car on the way to Toronto Subaru Club’s spring fling, I loved the camber he had and how his car looked. He sent me an e-mail a few days after I posted the photos saying he would want to rep some swagbaru vinyl and that he is planning to race at CSCS on July 15. I met up with Brad the day of a few hours before his practise runs and qualifying. I was unaware he had an STi swap until seeing under his hood. He had gold Enkei RPF1 with some slicks. It was his first time racing and he was eager to get out there and drive his best. The first few laps of qualifying he took slow and hit the dirt just on the other side of the apex his first few laps. Brad’s improved quickly becoming much faster and posting a best time (during lapping) of 1:05.6. Brad being his first time racing was in the SA (Street AWD) class. His lapping times were faster than a few other racers who were in the SS (Super Street) class who either had a faster car and/or more racing experience. It eventually rained for about an hour and came down hard. The track was soaked, this would obviously effect everyones racing time greatly, especially those that are RWD and FWD. Brad was in a dilemma of either keeping his slicks on or using treaded tires. The track was slowly drying and his heat was approaching. With final insight from his wife he decided to go with the treaded tires. Brad finished with a final time of 1.25.1 (remember the track was wet). Brad finished second in his class and first in his heat after it seemed everyone else in his heat kept spinning out especially the gray Porche 964, even Brad did once. For CSCS Round 3 Times go here.

Here is a video of Brad racing:

Here are just a few of the 403 pictures I took. Here are all 403 if you want.

Swagbaru #157 – Wagon Wednesday Vol. 31 Zach’s Rally Wagon

I first found Zach on his YouTube channel as he uploaded many videos with his 1998 Leagcy Wagon from general maintenance how-to’s to modifications to how-to paint your rims. I later found Zach on Facebook as we both a huge passion for Subaru’s. It seems to me that Zach has been through so much with his legacy from being rear-ended to putting an ’05 Legacy GT swap in and more mods than I can list. I never really know where Zach is on the progress of his legacy as on top of that he has a 04/05 WRX wagon and he has a matte black Subaru GL wagon. Thankfully Zach also can take some really nice pictures not only of his own car but others as well. Oh yeah and his wagon has a VF52

“Currently My car is undergoing a huge swap-basically, my car got totaled, insurance payed out-so I went all out on this new motor. I’m going from a 135 hp stock ’98 L EJ22 N/A motor to a 250 HP stock ’05 GTT EJ255-the same motor that’s in the 2011 WRX. I’m expecting to get 300 WHP and 350HP at the Crank with the additional engine mods I’ve done to it.”

If you want to see the full mod list and follow Zach’s Legacy you can go to his build thread here

A little more recent

Here’s his VF52

Zach’s going to college at Northwest University in 40 Days so his car has to get finsihed or else he has to put it in storage. He transfered it to Outback Automotive to finish it off:

Swagbaru #156 – Mini TSC Meet #12

These pictures are from July 11. This is our best turn out to date. With a Forester STi, another 2 Foresters. 3 GC8s, a GCF, 2 2007 Imprezas, 01/02 Impreza wagon, 4 2011+ STi’s, 2002 WRX wagon, 2004 WRX, 2004 STi, 2007 STi, and a Saab 9-2x (Saabaru) with an STi swap. I decided to make a video I know it did not turn out well but it was just a test.

Swagbaru #154 – Mini TSC Meet #11

Here are photos from Wednesday July 4. Kevin Lam’s Varis STi is one of the most well known Subaru’s in Toronto known for its crazy style with all the Varis body work and Nextmod (Where Kevin works) being a popular shop for tuners. I was very surprised to see him come out to our mini meet and took advantage by taking photos. I also got a few nice shots of Leon’s JDM GCF (GC8 Wagon) STi. I also got a few pictures of Jon’s 2007 CGM 2.5i.

The photos turned out better because I tried a different camera (Nikon D3100) rather than my usual Canon Rebel T3 (EOS 1100D)

Swagbaru #152 – Wagon Wednesday Vol. 29 A Pair of Outback STi’s

Here are two different 1997 Legacy Outbacks with STi swaps. Bobby was the first to send me pictures of his car and told his buddy John to send some pictures as well so I decided to make a double feature. As you could imagine Outbacks with an STi swap aren’t exactly common.

Bobby’s can be distinguished by the FMIC (Front Mount Inter-Cooler)

Swagbaru #149 – Mini TSC Meet #10

Swagbaru #147 – Brian’s Subie

Brian sent me pictures of his subie over a week ago and I had other things lined up and was not able to post it until now, here is his clean WRX.

Evolution of the Subaru Logo

I found this (from Toronto Subaru Club) amazing Subaru website http://subaru-philosophy.com/ where they make post of Subaru history, it updates every Friday.

Although the pattern has changed there has always been 6 Stars. I think the 5th on is my favorite.

Swagbaru #142 – Toronto Subaru Club East Side Cruise to Spring Fling

Here are the photos of just the East End chapter gathering before the cruise as well as pictures from the cruise to Toronto Subaru Club’s Spring Fling on June 2, 2012. The East End cruise got ahead when exiting the parking lot and myself along with SaltSweatSugar (08-11 2.5i Ice Silver Metallic who war recording video of the cruise) and Brendan (Red GC8) were left a bit behind, we did not think that we would catch up to the rest but after some time we did along with a load of other Subaru’s from other areas, supposedly we had a line of over 100 Subaru’s in one lane on the 403. I have a ton of photos from the meet itself and I will try to trim the fat and edit if I think I can edit them all and hopefully have them up for Friday.

I tried to get everyone from the East End gathering but I may have missed a couple.

SaltSweatSugar’s (David) Cruise Video:

A lot of people have trouble differentiating a 2011 WRX/STi to a 2012 WRX/STi, as you can see the 2012 has chrome headlight housing while the 2011 has black.

Swagbaru – Fitted – Stretch and Poke 2012

Here is my set of photos from Fitted by Stretch and Poke in Toronto from May 27, 2012. I attempted to take a photo of every Subaru I saw there but I know I missed a few, the photos are in order of when I saw the car and don’t forget to go all the way to the bottom to look at the gallery where I posted non-Subaru’s. I figured since it is 71 photos I do not have time to edit each one and blocking the plates (I am sure there is plenty of coverage of this meet without blocked plates). Enjoy

Swagbaru #140 – Wagon Wednesday Vol. 24

Fitted by Stretch and Poke on Sunday was great and I will get the pictures up on Friday, they are all unedited and I will not block the plates since it is over 70 photos which I do not have the time to edit each, and my photoshop is having problems anyways. I tried to take a pic of every Subaru there since I knew there would not be a huge number, I know I may have missed a few. Here’s just a quick post for W.W

Swagbaru #139 – Mini TSC Meet #9

This meet is from this Wednesday (May 23), I ended up not taking a photo of everyone together but just Josh’s newly painted rims and tow hook along with him posing next to them with his matching outfit. I also took some shots of Taylor’s new paint job on his GC8. I’m trying new edited techniques and you can see the blur effect in some photos and they’re some flaws I am aware but I’m still learning. For many of the photos I uploaded them both edited and unedited. Enjoy! And see you locals Sunday at Fitted!
